Workshop: Building a Hybrid Live Set

Are you a producer, live performer, vocalist, or musician working at/ interested in exploring the intersection of digital and acoustic music and ready to push genre boundaries? Then this is for you!

Deadline: 31st of August

In this workshop, Swiss-Moroccan producer and multi-instrumentalist Sami Galbi, together with his sound engineer, break down the creative and technical process behind designing a hybrid live performance — where analog gear, live vocals, traditional instruments, and digital production coexist on one stage. Rooted in his unique blend of chaâbi, raï, urban electronic music, and club aesthetics, this session offers a real perspective on live set design that challenges traditional genre and gear boundaries.

You will explore:

  • How to translate a studio sound into a stage-ready performance

  • Balancing live instrumentation, vocal performance, and sequenced elements (Ableton Live, samplers, synths, backing tracks)

  • Instrument & gear setup options: from analog synths to effect chains, MIDI mapping, and loopers

  • Managing technical risks: what can go wrong — and how to plan for it

  • Choosing the right format for your live set: solo vs. duo vs. full band

  • Workflow tips: organizing your session for flexibility and improvisation
